Walter E. "Woody" Woodward, 33, of Helena died suddenly on Jan. 20, 2005.
He was born April 2, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Jerome and Carolyn Woodward. His family moved to East Helena in 1979. He attended grade school in East Helena and graduated from Helena High School in 1989.
Walter joined the U.S. Army between his junior and senior years of high school and was a member of the Army reserves in Helena. Upon graduation, he entered active duty and was stationed in several locations throughout the United States and abroad. He was a veteran of the first Gulf War and served in the Army until 1997 when he received an honorable discharge.
After leaving active duty, he returned to Helena where he continued his service in the military as a member of the Army reserves and then the Naval reserves.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with friends, relatives and his pets. For the past few years, he worked at Carroll College and attended classes there.
